ANIMALS IN GREENE COUNTY, INDIANA

This blog is formed for the intent of publicizing the plight of animals in Greene County, Indiana. Concerned Citizens have formed a seperate, all volunteer, non-profit animal welfare group- MIDWEST FRIENDS OF ANIMALS- in order to attempt to take action for the many abused, neglected and unwantd animals thrown away on a daily basis in Greene County.

This is but one of many animals who are suffering extreme neglect and abuse in Greene County, Indiana. Local County Commissioners have refused to reinstate a long defunct Animal Control Commmission to help address these atrocities, due to the local 'good old boy's' complaints that they want no authority involved in how they chose to keep, breed, use, their animals. Bowing to public pressure from cruel and ignorant voters, these types of problems continue unchecked, in most of the county. THIS BOY has been one of the few rescued from their life of hell, by the Linton Police Department and a private volunteer group just today July 21st, 2006. THIS dog should weigh 50-60lbs and weighed in at 25lbs. After 2 days in the local vets, he's already gained 2lbs and has been diagosed Heartworm positive. If you would like to help him on his journey to health and a chance at a new life of happiness and love, please donate at MidwestAnimals.petfinder.com.

The Humane Society has to start screening people better and following up on their spay and neuter program. Don't adopt out to someone unless they have been home checked and reference checked. Sure this will mean a lot of animals might not get adopted at first, but you will see that the ones that do are not returned, abused, neglected, and making ten more babbies for everyone else to deal with. In a matter of two years I can honestly say our animal problem will be reduced a whole lot.

The humane society doesn't screen and has even in past given kennel/breeder licenses to people who had no business owning a stuffed animal!!! When nobody is held accountable for anything, people just don't care. They also should spay and neuter every animal that goes out that door. There were even cases where they KNEW animals they adopted out were being bred, and nobody did anything about it. The caring has to start with the County Commissioners giving a hoot and allowing stricter laws for the animals, however...if you don't have a good animal control to enforce it, then what good is it!

In response to GCREALITYCHECK...I hope you get all the help you need!! I've offered to volunteer for you numerous times and it wasnt'wanted. I'd be glad to donate monitarily for things you need if we can be sure they are being used for the animals benefit. In the past, monies have been mismanaged, so it's hard to have faith sometimes. All I can tell the public following our blog is: WE ARE AN ALL VOLUNTEER EFFORT. No one in our group is paid for their services to animals. ALL MONIES WE RAISE GO TO THE ANIMAlS CARE!! So, donate wherever you wish, but donations to our group are guarenteed to help the animals FIRST and ONLY.
