Tempers are hot among animal lovers over the local Greene County Humane Society 'auctioning off a small dog". Our mail is overflowing with crossposts about this shelter. Read further for some of the details of our struggles with them. MOST RECENTLY....between their October nomination meetings for officers and board members, and their NOVEMBER elections.....they slid past a sneaky meeting that was advertised in a different place, so that no member saw it and they then met by themselves, changed their bylaws...and made the people who were just nominated, INELIGIBLE!!!!!! In our opinion this is just concrete evidence of their unethical attitude and actions. Their new bylaws, which were , as stated, never voted on by members, just their current board, pretty much covers them to do anything they want and re-elect themselves as they chose. Despite our original intentions to form our group solely as a SUPPORT group for this shelter, as we brought more and more extreme mismanagment issues to their boards attention, we were told our help was not wanted or needed. THEY MAKE VERY POOR DECISIONS, INCLUDING RAISING FUNDS BY SELLING DEAD CAT BODIES TO A BIO-MED COMPANY THEY REFUSE TO GIVE DETAILS ON. THE PROBLEM WITH THAT SCENARIO IS- IF THERE IS ANY QUESTION THAT THEY HAVE THE ANIMALS BEST INTEREST AT HEART, THIS MAKES THE CATS WORTH MORE DEAD THEN ALIVE!! As distasteful as that is, it's the least of their problems when it comes to making poor decisions.
